How To: Reinforce A Junction Box

Recently I wanted to upgrade the ceiling fans in the guest rooms of my house due to some new renters moving in. The old children’s fans (flower and baseball-themed fans) wouldn’t be appropriate for the new residents. After finding a great deal on some Fanimation Builder series fans (the most basic fans normally installed in new constructions), I decided to replace the fans myself. The problem I encountered was a loose junction box. The previous ceiling fan had mounted securely, but this new one relied on the junction box for its main support, and I needed to resolve this issue before I could confidently rent the room. The thought of a heavy, spinning object not being securely installed above someone’s head wouldn’t sit well with me. The video below outlines what needed to be done.
