Under cabinet lighting is a fantastic way to brighten a small amount of space, right where you need the light.

Turning on a light has become second nature for us. Whether it’s a chandelier to brighten the dinner table, a nightlight for the little fellas or a vanity fixture in the morning, illumination helps us do our tasks safely and efficiently.

But sometimes we don’t need the whole room ablaze with light. Or other times, we could use a little extra light focused on a specific spot. At times like these, task lighting is the way to go.

Task lighting acts as a complementary light source that narrows its focus to a certain spot. This can be used in the kitchen, living or family room, bedroom or garage.

The most common type of kitchen task lighting is under-cabinet lighting. Mounted beneath the kitchen cabinets, it brightens the countertop where you’re preparing a meal or cleaning. The use of light-emitting diode lights (LEDs) help make this task lighting system incredibly efficient and should give you plenty of light for years.

When you’re curling up on the couch with a good book (or a good friend), you might need an extra bit of light or a very small amount of it. Lamps are a great way to provide complementary brightness—not too much, not too little, but just right.

Garage task lighting is available to meet all of your job requirements. Perennial favorites to add to your 21^st century garage task lighting arsenal include work lights, cordless pivoting head flashlights and flexible floodlights.

When you think of it, lighting doesn’t have to be something that’s flooded throughout a room or living space. Sometimes you could just use a small amount, and that’s where task lighting can really help.
