Build.com Helps Award-Winning Contractor

Much of the time, it’s best not to do too much boasting. But when we help a customer achieve great things, we think that’s a good enough reason to brag a little.

Laurie and Aaron Peirick of Wisconsin-based JP Kitchen Studios, LLC are no stranger to awards, but they’re going to want to make more room in their trophy case.

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) recently named JP Kitchen Studios their 2011 Regional Contractor of the Year. The Midwest states up for this regional recognition run through the country’s heartland, including Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas.

At a recent M Magazine “Readers Choice” Award dinner in downtown Milwaukee, JP Kitchen Studios walked away with not one, not two…but three awards:

  • Gold—Thoms kitchen project ($20,000 to $40,000)
  • Gold—Krupp-Gordon kitchen project ($80,000 to $120,000)
  • Silver—Lamp bath ($15,000 to $30,000)

JP Kitchen Studio, as part of their participation in the Build.com Professional Program, spoke with our very own Gary Clark on finding the perfect lighting and plumbing products for their projects.

BEFORE - The Thoms' Kitchen

The Thoms’ limited counter space in their kitchen was an issue right off the bat. The solutions? Take the cabinets to the ceiling to maximize storage space and install a gorgeous, seamless 118-inch-long granite counter-top in the kitchen sink area.

JP Kitchen Studios was also sensitive to the Thoms’ desire to showcase their collection of antique German canisters. Now they (the canisters, not the Thoms) are in full view in a decorative mantle above the microwave.

AFTER - The Thoms' renewed kitchen

After replacing the pendant lighting with fabulous recessed lighting and relocating the fridge, the Thoms are now enjoying a rejuvenated kitchen.

BEFORE - The Krupp Gordon kitchen

The Krupp-Gordon kitchen project was more in-depth and the owners wanted major changes. When the house was built years ago, the homeowners chose a safe color scheme—white. Add a somewhat cluttered layout and this space was ready for a change.

AFTER - The Krupp-Gordon kitchen

A new color scheme provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere, fabulous mini pendants, recessed lighting and track lighting offered up brilliant lighting over a new quartz counter-top bar area, glass tile back-splashes added dimension and color, and sparkling new appliances brought this kitchen up to date.

AFTER - The Krup-Gordon's new bar area

While the Lamp family’s bathroom project was smaller in scale, the improvements were no less dramatic. A drab color scheme and low lighting prevented this area from reaching its full potential.

BEFORE - The Lamp's bathroom

Bring in a granite counter-top, replace the uninteresting flooring and update the lighting and plumbing fixtures, and this bathroom suddenly became something to talk about.
