How To: Repair Drywall Holes
Milan from our Media Team deals with a couple of knuckleheads making holes in his drywall. Follow along as he shows you the simple steps to making a clean and paint-able repair to drywall, whether you have a large or small hole.
Filling a small hole in drywall:
Materials needed:
- Drywall tape
- Sanding block
- Spackling or joint compound
- Putty knife
Repairing a large hole in drywall:
Materials needed:
- Utility knife
- Drywall tape
- Drywall screws
- Taping knives (14″ and/or 3″)
- Screwdriver or electric drill
- Scrap wood (preferably 1″x 1″)
- Sanding block
- Quick set joint compound
- Carpenter’s square and measuring tape
- Pencil
If your home is older and was built with plaster walls, you have a bit more work ahead of you, but not so much that you need to hire a professional in all cases.
